Háæruverðugu félagar! Prinspóló sendir í dag frá sér nýtt lag og heitir það Landspítalinn. Lagið er meðal annars óður til upphafs- og endastöðvar þeirra Íslendinga sem kjósa að fæðast á Landspítalanum. Honorable friends! Prinspolo is releasing a new song, called Landspítalinn (e. The National Hospital). The song is an anthem for the Hospital but it marks as the beginning and the end for many Icelanders, at least those who choose to be born there and die. 19. janúar 2012 - Prinspóló gefur út Föstudagsmessu, lag og myndband. Prinspóló gefur í dag út lagið Föstudagsmessa. Lagið er fyrsta lagið sem Prinspóló sendir frá sér síðan breiðskífan Jukk kom út haustið 2010. Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson úr Fm Belfast var Prinsinum til halds og traust við framleiðslu lagsins. Jafnframt kemur út myndband við lagið sem Berglind Häsler gerði ásamt prinsinum. Hægt er að hlusta á lagið og hala því niður á www.gogoyoko.com Lagið og myndbandið gæti birst sumum sem óskiljanleg steypa. En um hvað fjallar verkið? Gefum Prinspóló orðið: "Já lagið fjallar um að vera á stað þar sem þú vilt ekki vera. Til dæmis á dimmum næturklúbbi þar sem stemmingin er léleg en gestirnir láta sem allt sé æðislegt og voða gaman. Myndbandið heimfærir síðan þessa hugmynd yfir á mörkin á milli aðalatriðis og aukaatriðis. Eins og til dæmis þegar maður er á ferðalagi og stillir sér upp í myndatöku fyrir framan sögufræga byggingu. Hvor er þá mikilvægari, þú eða byggingin?" This song is the first new song Prinspóló releases since the release of Jukk, his debut LP, in June 2011. The song is produced by Svavar Eysteinsson (Prinspóló) and Árni+1 from FM Belfast. A video for Föstudagsmessa is premiered alongside this exclusive release. The video was directed by Berglind Häsler and the Prins. You can listen (and download) the song on www.gogoyoko.com and watch the video on www.prinspolo.com and blog.gogoyoko.com The song most likely does not make sense to you, since it is in Icelandic, and the video might not either, since it is "special". Let Prinspóló explain: "Yes, the song is about the place you don't want to be at. For example a dark and dirty nightclub where everybody is pretending to have fun and everything is great. The video brings that idea, to pretend everything is great when it isn't, to another level and tries to make it fit to an idea of a focal point and surroundings. Like when traveling and you have your picture taken in front of a historical building, which is the focal point, you or the building?" About Prinspóló
Prinspóló is the brainchild and former alter ego of Svavar Pétur Eysteinsson from Breiðholt. He worked on a farm as a child where he studied singing with a walkman and a shovel. The few moments he has to himself he changes his bottled up feelings into songs and puts them on tape.
In 2009 Prinspóló released the EP "Einn Heima" on Brak Records. Physical copies of the album are now rarities but you can download it through Svavars label Skakkapopp.
In 2011 Prinspóló released his first LP "Jukk" on Kimi Records. You might wonder what Jukk means. Jukk is everything that does not have a logical origin. Jukk is a happening, state and/or entity that everybody knows and has perceived but can't explain. At some moment everything is Jukk.
In January 2012 Prinspóló started a singles and video project in close collaboration with Kimi Records, Gogoyoko, Fröken Reykjavík Productions, World Champion Records and other dear friends and acquaintances.
